Chichen Itza Map - Every Temple, Cenote & Entrance Located

Chichen Itza map showing El Castillo, the Great Ball Court, Sacred Cenote, Temple of the Warriors, El Caracol, the entrance and parking

This Chichen Itza map shows you exactly where everything is before you arrive: every major temple, the Sacred Cenote, the entrance, parking and the walking paths between them. The archaeological zone is bigger than most visitors expect - about 4–5 km of walking to see it all - so a little orientation saves you backtracking in the midday heat. Below the map you will find each monument located with walking times, plus a suggested 2-hour route.

Where Is Chichen Itza on a Map?

Chichen Itza sits in the center of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, in Yucatan state, next to the small town of Pisté. It is roughly 120 km west of Cancun (about 2 hours by car), 150 km from Playa del Carmen, 130 km from Tulum and 115 km east of Merida - which is why it works as a day trip from every major resort city. Coordinates: 20.6843° N, 88.5678° W.

Chichen Itza Site Map - How the Ruins Are Laid Out

The site has two zones. The north zone holds the great plaza with El Castillo, the Great Ball Court, the Temple of the Warriors and the Sacred Cenote - this is where 90% of visitors spend their time. The south zone (often called Old Chichen) is quieter and holds El Caracol, the observatory, and Las Monjas. Everything connects by flat, signposted limestone paths.

Screenshot the illustrated map at the top of this page before your visit - mobile signal inside the site is unreliable, and the on-site signage is better for directions than for planning your route.
